Bicton Hill (Mission Beach)

Distance: slightly less than 4km return

Elevation: around 175m

Difficulty: 2/10

Reward vs effort: 10/10

Bicton Hill is a lesser known small trail in Clump Mountain National Park. This little beauty is located around 10 minutes, 5km drive north of Mission Beach at Bingal Bay. We highly recommend visiting if you are in the area.

We love this hike because it is suitable for all fitness types and for just under 4 km return, it offers spectacular views out across to Dunk Island. The trail itself is well defined and easy to follow, it is signed and encompasses lush rainforest. There are also views back across to Bingal Bay from the trail.

Trail Notes

The start of the trail is easy to find if you Google "Bicton Hill". There is a large area to park your car.

You will see a large sign "Clump Mountain National Park"

The start of the trail is behind the picnic table to the right.

The trail is super easy to find, you literally cannot get lost on this trail. It is also a slow incline so perfect for all fitness levels. If you are into trail running this would be a nice easy trail.

Not long into the trail, around 500 metres, you will come to a fork. The trail is a loop so you can go either way. We elected to go left for a shorter trip to the top, if you went right you can expect it to be slightly slower incline, either way, the trail really isn't difficult.

Keep following the trail until you come across this sign which indicates where to peel off to the summit. This sign is easy to spot as it is opposite another sign which signals the direction to the car park.

As the sign indicates, you are not far from the top. When you get to the top you will have views across to Dunk Island (per the first photo in this blog). There is also a nice little bench seat and a handy information sign.

When you leave the lookout and get back to the loop track, try remember to go the opposite way to which you came up. We went right.

Follow the trail all the way back to the carpark. Lookout for other great advantage views along the trail.

When you get back to the carpark it is worthwhile crossing the road to check out the rocky beach.
